The Overview and Scrutiny
Committee has the dual purpose of holding the Cabinet
decision-makers to account and contributing to long-term policy
development within the Council.
The Overview and Scrutiny
Committee also monitors the decisions of Cabinet and Cabinet Leads
and key decisions taken by officers that have been taken but not
yet implemented. Non-Cabinet Councillors can ‘call-in’
these decisions to enable the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to
consider whether the decision is appropriate. The Overview and
Scrutiny Committee may recommend that the decision is reconsidered
by decision maker.
Further details of the
committee are set out in Part 1, Section 7, Part 2, Section E and
Part 3, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, of the
Council's Constitution.
