Planning Committee's central function is to deal with applications
for planning permission and the conduct of planning appeals. It
considers the larger more controversial applications.

committee also has an enforcement role in ensuring that planning

which has taken place without the necessary planning permission is
removed or ceased, and is responsible for the protection and
preservation of trees.
